Midas money is black and noticeably different from real money to the eyes of Entres. According to Sōichirō Mikuni, using Midas Money has no actual effect on the real world, but little is known about it. People who are not Entres are unable to see the difference between Midas Money and real currency. Despite this, a large influx of Midas Money pouring into the real world can lead to devastating aftereffects on the economy, notably inflation. Towards the end of the series, people who were not Entres were able to see the Midas Money for what it really was just before it was removed from the Japanese economy.
